Words in the Valley

Words,
Fill up the page,
Fill up the day,
From end to start.

Blankets,
Of chewed up words,
Shelter the cold,
From head to heart.

A star,
For every letter,
Handed over,
In the sky above.

Shines down,
On every mountain,
Heart in the valley,
Of love.

Gaze out the window, where the sun shines in,
For a little warmth.
Stare out the window, where free winds blow,
Then find the door.

Secret book,
Uncharted feelings,
Un-Earthly meanings,
Find a way.

Truths,
Hide in a closet,
Orphaned prophet,
Set off today.

Gaze out the window, where the sun shines in,
For a little warmth.
Stare out the window, where free winds blow,
Then find the door.

Blankets,
Of comfort,
Blind insight,
Sliver sunlight.

Words,
Spread out stars,
In the sky,
Tonight.

Untitled

She wants to trust her instincts
She claims her intuition is never wrong
She cites literature, poetry and rhyme
Comparing nature and rhythm, coincidence and song.

How can such a gift cast down from above
Transpire into such a form of guilt ridden love?

She writes a letter of thought and love
Explaining how she can not go another day
Under this guise of false indifference
Her words lay the tracks, then pave the way.

Living a lie is such a truth
The dam will break, the waters push through
In passion’s flames the gates stand tall
And wide, shall bend and break down all.

She overcomes a long quiet trance
To break out in moon light dance
Free as the night is young.

The sky black, the stars shine
The sand sifts, the weight lifts
The hour long, the time gone
The gift arrives, like the sun.

All

All I have to do is breathe to be reminded
All I have to do is open my eyes to see
Just like the soil we sift through
Like a weed we pull through
Like the glass we swept down to the curb

All I have to do is breathe to be reminded

All I have to do is lay my head to wonder
All I have to do is close my eyes to see
Just like a face carved in my mind is dying
Just like the rope that burns my hand
Is slipping

All I have to do is breathe to be reminded

Alright

If you like someone
You’ve got to tell them.
If you miss someone
Go out and get them.
If you’ve taught someone
You know they listen.
They can teach you too
If you only let them.

If you know someone
Then they know you too.
You can heal someone
Like they do you.
If you fall asleep
Hold on all long night.
When you wake up early
They will still dream it’s all right.

Apple Blue

It only takes a toothache, to ruin your cake
One sour grape, to end your date
An apple worm to make your tongue squirm
A dying tree means no more leaves

It only takes one of you,
to paint this world blue

It only takes one spark, to start a fire
A wicked wind elevates it higher
A little rain to put out the flame
It will all make sense some day

It only takes one of you,
To paint this world
Blue

It only take one thorn, in your side
To make you forge that you’re alive

It only takes one dark dim lit foggy day
To make you get lost and lose your way
One bad frost to kill off the crops
The fruit gone bad and the flowers lost

It only takes one of you
To paint this world
Blue
Blue, blue
Blue

Tracks Parallel

Aren’t you the one that’s been following?
Aren’t you the one that’s been hanging around?
You look oblivious to feelings around you,
You look straight out of lost and found.

Aren’t you the one staring straight to the sun?
Sometimes you are all but blinded.
Your eyes deceive you when they’re three feet away.
But blind the answer is clear.

You know another thing about this?
You can feel happiness right down to the bone.
Maybe a glance, a smile, a look, a turn, a word.
Don’t be afraid to spill your heart into the world.

You talk around like it’s nothing,
But you know it’s everything to you.
Your heart is stolen when it’s in love
When you cannot confess it to the one it’s true.

You know another thing about this?
Connections deeper than the way bodies get used,
Result in love that’s everlasting.
Emit a spark, a flame, a fire
That’s true to you.

Snow In July

Snow in July, made us want to cry
Snow in July, made us want to cry

Ice on the trees,
Poured right down to the streets
Pillows of snow on the land,
Gave the look of white sand
Mud on my shoe,
Made me think about you,
Made me think about you.

No April sun just wind,
And the jackets grew thicker each day
The trees were dying in spring,
The leaves fell, nothing left green
The nights grew longer too,
The darkness increased every day.

The vines all tangled around,
But no fruit here could be found
Yes the stems came out of the ground,
But no flowers here could be found
No flowers here could be found.

Snow in July, made us cry,
Was it really true?
Snow in July, made us cry,
Was it really true?

One hot December rain,
The trees kept us from soaking
The flowers they all bloomed
And so my love for you,
And so my love for you.

Snow in July, made us cry,
Was it really true?
Snow in July, made us cry,
Was it really true?
